So, the Girl we’re talking about is me, Maria Sofia (Sofia, if you prefer), and The Kite would be my boyfriend, Ludo.
We are a couple of freaks who decided to drop everything back home (Italy) and leave for our first long term trip.
We started in Thailand and, after a short pit stop in Bali, we landed in Australia to work our butts off while trying to explore this big land.
The Girl and her Kite was born while talking with a friend about our travel plans. He said “Girl , hold on tight on Ludo, cause he’s like a kite, he goes where the wind blows and he always risks to get lost in the world. He’ll need you to bring him back on his foothsteps”.
Pretty obvious, ain’t it?
Hell yeah, baby!

Well, first of all because everybody should read more, in general.
Aside of this undeniable principle, if you’d die to travel more, explore more often, but you believe that it’s too expensive for you and you’ll never be able to do it. If you think you’ll be stuck in your 9-5 job forever, waiting eternally fo the weekend/the holidays/retirement. If you’re scared AF of taking the big step and go towards the unknown. If you are nodding your head like “this is me” then this blog is for you.
We don’t think we’re better than you, we dont’ think we are travel experts. We just believe that reading the story of two guys just like you, perhaps, might help you.
You can follow us through our journey while we figure out all of this stuff for you. And maybe this we’ll give you the courage that you need. Or the hope you were looking for.
The Girl
- is completely obsessed with renovation TV shows and thinks that she can build her own tiny house
- has recurrent dreams where she’s about to leave for a trip and she needs to pack her bags. The dream goes on for hours while she makes lists, fold clothes and panicks because she can’t decide what to bring. She eventually ends up at the airport without any luggages, everytime. (I know, scary much?)
The Kite
- is a nerdy game player. You can often find him yelling at his laptop “Shoot! Shoot! They are coming, cover me!”. Yeah, weird.
- loves to waste all of his money in online trading, hoping that he’ll find a good investment (keep hoping, love)
- whenever we arrive to a new city he needs to check out the casino (hey, you guys are taking money advice from this dude, not me!)
